Super light electric sports car from NICE car company

Electric car news seems to be so commonplace now that the NICE Car Company's unveiling of its Super Light Electric Sport (sic) Car at the annual SMMT test day yesterday went without much coverage.

As reported on Autobloggreen NICE's Super Light Electric Sport Car is a concept vehicle that embodies much of the technology that NICE believes will help propel electric-powered cars to the forefront. Its steering and braking are electrically controlled instead of mechanically and it’s all designed around a carbon fibre cell.

Super%20Light%20Electric%20Sport%20Car.jpgThe Autoblog guys are iffy about the scissor doors, but I think they're rather cool actually and certainly make you popular in the supermarket car park - I'm so fed up of getting door dings from Chelsea tractors!

According to Channel 4, this car was the result of a project conducted in partnership with Cranfield University’s power and drive systems group. NICE co-founder, Evert Geurtsen, said of the vehicle, “This is not a production car, but it does show what is possible when design starts from the principle of electric-drive upwards. When integrated with advanced, lightweight materials, the benefits of this approach become very clear.”

Well, I hope they'll become clear because I can't find them anywhere. Maybe Evert will send me an exclusive ;-) I met him when I had a test run in the original NICE car and he told me all about the challenges of making a production car. He must have decided that it's time for a bit of diversion into concept car land, and why not? Why should the big guys get all the headlines???

Although the public hasn’t yet had access to this vehicle, NICE says that will change when it hits the floor of the British International Motor Show in late July along with several other new models being added to the NICE lineup.

BTW - I've been a bit of a blogging slackard lately. The day job's been getting in the way. A few ardent EV fans have pointed out some models that I've missed from the EV Comparison Guide (most popular feature on this website I'll have you know) so if you know of any that I should add, please point me to them, but no home-made conversion thingies. Pure EV, that's me.

BG Automotive Group has a car that will travel 80-100 miles per charge for $15,995.

Finally a car that most Americans can afford.

Did you know that 80% of all drivers, drive less than 50 miles per day? This new car will cost an equivalent of $0.20-0.25 cents/gallon (depending on electricity rates in your area).
