Edinburgh wants to be testbed for electric cars

At Mygreenwheels we don't just write about electric cars, we go out and make things happen. Or at least we try to make them happen. I've got my fingers crossed for this one.

Rather than brag I'll take some copy directly from the newspaper that ran the story about what my husband Ash Gupta has been up to in his efforts to bring EVs to the UK ...

Edinburgh wants to be testbed for electric cars

A consortium of green vehicle experts has been formed to make Edinburgh the first electric car city in Britain.

A CONSORTIUM OF GREEN vehicle experts has been formed to make Edinburgh the first electric car city in Britain. Last week an application was submitted by the consortium, led by former Ford marketing guru Ash Gupta with backing from Edinburgh City Council, to the Technology Strategy Board for a year-long trial to bring more electric vehicles to the streets of the capital. If the application is successful, the scheme is likely to be rolled out in the autumn.

You can read the rest of it here.

Too bad the paper got their facts wrong about the price of the i MiEV. As the exchange rate between £ and Yen has changed so much over the last year, the price of the car is more likely to be upwards of £40K. But at least we're looking at an EV trial in the UK with the only available 4-seater, right hand drive electric car and the spec's not bad either.

We'll hear next week if our application goes through to the next round, so I'm starting to get just a little bit excited and meanwhile Ash has adopted the swagger of a hunter-gatherer.

Before T- Mobile fired Charles Barkley , they must have made one last commercial, this time featuring not only Miami’ s Dwayne Wade, but also the Orlando Magic’ s Dwight Howard as well. Hopefully, once Barkley gets his life back together, he will regain this endorsement.

Alas ... an essential team member threw its toys out of the pram, so we've had to pull out of this one. Back to the drawing board. Ho hum.

It does not follow that because we do not subsidize smoking, we should not regulate unhealthy activities. Costs and savings are not the only variable. The fact that obesity creates costs is merely an additional reason to regulate it, not the only one. The main reason is its danger to an individual. You are dismissive of subsidizing smoking precisely because of this moral intuition. oneddl oneddl - supra footwear.
