'Pimp my ride' Tesla-style
Tesla Roadstar as car art by Laurence GartelTesla has been showing off its electric sports car as a piece of art after letting a 1970s digital artist loose on it. Laurence Gartel covered its body panels in a vinyl wrap and the result has been touring art festivals in Miami Beach to very warm acclaim, if the comments on Autobloggreen are anything to go by. A classy piece of work I must agree.
BMW 3.0 CSL from 1976 in Andy Warhol design
They're not the first to do cars as art though. Back in 2006 BMW went for Andy Warhol design to decorate a 1976 Beemer and even before that I spent a year driving around in this customised Think to help promote the Think @bout Edinburgh program in 2001 in my home city.
Think electric car from 2001 with Think@boutEdinburgh launch livery
OK, it's hardly an art car, but it always got a great reaction from people wherever I went in it and I was really sorry to give it up when Ford decided to take back all the Think electric cars after deciding not to progress with them. But that's another story.
