'Pimp my ride' Tesla-style

Tesla Roadstar as car art by Laurence GartelTesla has been showing off its electric sports car as a piece of art after letting a 1970s digital artist loose on it. Laurence Gartel covered its body panels in a vinyl wrap and the result has been touring art festivals in Miami Beach to very warm acclaim, if the comments on Autobloggreen are anything to go by. A classy piece of work I must agree.

They're not the first to do cars as art though. Back in 2006 BMW went for Andy Warhol design to decorate a 1976 Beemer and even before that I spent a year driving around in this customised Think to help promote the Think @bout Edinburgh program in 2001 in my home city.

OK, it's hardly an art car, but it always got a great reaction from people wherever I went in it and I was really sorry to give it up when Ford decided to take back all the Think electric cars after deciding not to progress with them. But that's another story.
