Kia's funky purple electric concept car

All of a sudden four-seaters are so last year and yet another automaker is about to dazzle us with a stunning 3-seater electric car. This time it's Kia that has cooked up the POP, a cute concept car that will first meet its public at the 2010 Paris Motor Show on 30 September. Kia isn't saying much about the car at this stage, but the design is sure to turn heads and that's always good in my view ... well, in my view as a blogger. I'll admit to getting great blogging mileage out of some real design stinkers!

Kia POP - new electric concept carAt only 3 metres in length the Kia POP would surely go down well in Paris where traffic and parking is a nightmare. Have a look at these two video links and you'll see just what I mean. And note that there are no lanes marked on the roads ... it's certainly not a driving experience for the faint-hearted.

I love the Kia POP's massive see-through roof which suggests plenty of space in its deep purple interior (loving the colour too!) for the two folks enjoying the front seat, but imminent leg cramp for the poor person who has to huddle into the back seat. Maybe Kia will kit it out with a cool entertainment system to keep the back row happy? But if they're being driven in Paris I think their attention will be glued to the back window wondering how long they're likely to survive.

The Kia POP's huge see-through roof and regal purple interiorFeaturewise, Energyboom claims to spot a bumper-mounted camera to assist parking and scissor doors for better access in confined spaces. The POP's also going to have LED lighting <-- why don't more cars have it? Not only is it energy efficient, but it looks great, like on the latest Audis! Other than that, it's all a guessing game about the spec right now.

It can be said that the same electrical engineering can be applied to cars on their lighting from interior lighting to exterior lighting consisting of Headlight Lens to Fog Lights. I believe electric cars will have more efficient lighting in terms of eco friendliness and less electrical generation.
