Electric roadster with retro glamour and 341 mile range

Japanese carmaker Mitsuoka had a bad attack of Anglophilia to judge from this classy morph from Mazda's MX5 to a Morgan lookalike, the Mitsuoka Himiko. Amazing how a little classic roadster like the MX5 can be converted to this sexy beast with a bit of wood trim and a pile of chrome, but this one is particularly special. TGMY has produced this electric version to show that electric cars can be sexy and green at the same time.

TGMY electric conversion of Mitsuoka Himiko roadsterThis sleek beauty is powered by 168 Lithium polymer batteries that are claimed to give it a very impressive range of about 341 miles on one charge from its AC induction motor and controller with a 2-speed gearbox and rear wheel drive.

The range was getting as much attention as the car's looks at the 2011 Japan EV show. Orders are expected to be taken during second half 2011, but no word yet about price. As they're practically made by hand, I guess you get what you pay for, like buying a bespoke suit.
