Time for a topless Danish runabout

ECOmove, a new Danish EV company, has just revealed its first electric car model from its QBEAK series and it's a real cutie. The first prototype is a topless electric runabout that offers a several immediate variations from the usual city car profile - like sliding electric doors (good for tight parking spaces), a centred driver position (you can enter and exit the car from either side), in-wheel  motors and smart-phone based instrumentation within the steering wheel. It also claims a range of 155 miles that gives it an edge over the Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV which manage around 110 miles on a good day.

ECOmove's electric runabout QBEAKThe QBEAK series will all share the 'skateboard' platform that opens up a world of possibilities to expand the base in length and width, so the 3-seater can easily become a 6-seater. Made of aluminium, plastics and Kevlar composites to be robust and rust-free, the QBEAK series incorporates recyclable body panels that can be swopped to change colour and style, so it can be updated as your needs or tastes change.

At the moment no delivery dates have been set and the price is merely described as 'attractive', but you can already sign up at the ECOmove website without a deposit if you want to be on the list. I'm sorely tempted ...
